I am back (technically next week) at uni and as usual feeling a bit overwhelmed at the work load. Nothing unusual about that, that is how I function. However, this time I am also facing down some rather big changes. This is my last week as a regular at my day job. Yikes!
As my focus has changed over the last two years towards doing my own thing I have decided to make the commitment to jump in with both feet and make my studies and business preparation one of my main priorities. My family of course always being top of that ladder. So here I am, leaving my job of the last 4 years at Priceline Pharmacy in Renmark to get through my Bachelor in Nutrition that much faster. But before I go I would like to take a moment to reflect…
My time in pharmacy, and indeed retail has taught me a lot and has given me the opportunity to shift my interests back into health. Retail itself has taught me valuable lessons about myself and learning how to “people”. I am a natural introvert so that is kind of a big deal for me. Pharmacy is an entertaining occupation, no doubt, it has unique challenges, rewards and the lessons never end.
On a good day in pharmacy you might find yourself celebrating those beautiful things in life such as the birth of a child, an engagement, or just the joy of being surrounded by positive, happy people. On a hard day you could be grieving the death of one of the regular clients. Pharmacies of course, support many older people and sadly this is part of the natural course of life. Doesn’t make it any easier though, your regular customers become a part of your life and their joys and griefs become your own. At the end of the day though it is the team that makes the difference and I am forever grateful to the amazing team I have had the blessing to be able to work with these last few years. So to the Priceline Renmark team, who has been a rock to me, supporting me through my own highs and lows, been quick to offer a shoulder, a laugh, a coffee and slice or two of cake if needed, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
It is the end of an era for me. And so here’s to moving forward (clink).
I look forward to unfurling all the plans I have for Riverland Nutrition & Wellness, including rolling out some fitness programs and girls (body positive) empowerment classes. Keep an eye out for the RNW Warriors, soon to be taking over a town near you 😀
Gratitude & Joy,
